Who doesn’t like a cookie?  And what’s better than a cookie with a SMILE on it?

This week it’s time to buy a SMILE cookie week at Tim Horton’s in Almonte. Again this year the Almonte General Hospital/Fairview Manor has been selected as the recipient of the Tim Horton Smile Cookie fundraiser.

And that is exactly what Home Hospice North Lanark did on Wednesday this week!  The Board and friends of Home Hospice purchased 16 dozen cookies from our local Tim Hortons in support of the Almonte and Carleton Place Hospitals.

Jan Watson, Chair of Home Hospice, organized the cookies and she and Board member, Ruth Dubois, along with Past Chair, Nancy Deschenes who took photos delivered the cookies around town.

First stop was to meet David Sprunt, Acting Superintendent of the Paramedic Community Program for Lanark, Leeds Grenville.  David met us at the Almonte Hospital and we handed over cookies for the folks at the EMS program.

Next stop was just across the driveway where we delivered cookies to the hardworking staff at the vaccine testing site. Three lovely young ladies came out in full PPE with smiles behind their masks to take possession of the cookies for their coffee break.

Down the road we went to our next stop at Orchard View by the Mississippi where we delivered cookies to two of their front desk receptionists who were going to take them in for a staff meeting. Bet that staff meeting went on for longer than it would normally do with folks munching on cookies!

Our final stop was at Almonte Country Haven where Carolyn Della Forester and a group of staff took a few minutes away from their duties to come out and receive a large box of cookies and to get their photos taken with Ruth and Jan.

In the mean time, Board member Toni Surko was spreading cheer in Carleton Place with a smile cookie drop-off at Stoneridge Manor in Carleton Place.

We hope that everyone enjoyed the cookies and that it really put a SMILE on your face for today.

If you have not purchased a SMILE cookie yet please do so as this supports our hospitals, which each and every one of us needs at some stage of our lives.
